Joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as JEE is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is a National level exam for admissions into Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech) of various Government Engineering Colleges such as NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. It also serves as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to IITs.
There are a total of 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 CFTIs in India with their seating capacity as follows-
The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has asked all IITs to get admission of more girls students and also ensure that every IIT campus has at least 14% female students in the new batch from the academic year 2018. The directive given by HRD Ministry is a part of the plan to lower gender bias in IITs by increasing female representation to 20% by 2026. From the year 2018, the total number of seats in all IITs across the country will be 11,289 up from 10,988 to achieve a 14% share in seats for girls students.

The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) comprises two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country.
The JEE (Main) - 2023 will be conducted in 02 (two) sessions for admissions in the next academic session. The candidates will thus benefit in the following ways:
