What is JIPMER? JIPMER hospital Karaikal or JIPMER Pondicherry

JIPMER is a national-level undergraduate medical entrance exam, conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) for admission to MBBS programmes.

What is JIPMER in detail?

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research also known as JIPMER, funded by the Indian central government, is a premier medical college in India.

It has two campuses, Puducherry and Karaikal (Tamil Nadu). The total seats in both the JIPMER campuses are 200, with 150 in Puducherry and 50 seats in Karaikal. Established in 1956, JIPMER is an autonomous institute spread over a sprawling area of 192 acres, and one of the leading medical institutions of India

JIPMER was first established on 1 January 1823 and it is the oldest institute to teach European Medicine in Asia. JIPMER offers various undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.

Located at Pondicherry, JIPMER is also a fully functional hospital that provides medical treatments to patients from all over the world.

It has about 200 faculty members 3,000 staff and 360 resident physicians.

JIPMER has always projected excellence in what it does and has been constantly ranked among the top colleges of the country by various prime websites.

JIPMER started operating from one more newly opened campus at Karaikal from November 2015.

JIPMER Cut off 2022

Here is a small comparaison between JIPMER Pondicherry and JIPMER Karaikal with the overall AIIMS cut off 2022

In this article, we focus on the NEET cut-off 2022 for JIPMER. Many of the students from the Northeast didn’t consider JIPMER as their preferred Medical college for MBBS courses.

If you look at the Cut off marks in 2022 carefully in the above table, you will understand the difference between enrolling in a state medical college and JIPMER.

As we already mentioned in the beginning of the article that JIPMER is the premier institute for MBBS you must consider.

Candidates who are aspiring to take admitted in the undergraduate medical courses in JIPMER (both campuses) in the academic year 2022-23 have to appear for the NEET 2022 entrance examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Of the combined JIPMER seats, 70% are allotted through the All India Quota and 30% through State Quota.

JIPMER Merit List 2022

The JIPMER merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored by a candidate in the entrance examination. Once the merit list is out, you can check it on the official website of JIPMER

The list will be available in PDF format. Based on the JIPMER merit list, candidates will be shortlisted and will be called for counselling.

The rank letter will also get released by the institute authority later via online mode. As a candidate, you just have to enter your login details to download the rank letter.

JIPMER Counselling 2022

The JIPMER counselling process is quite lengthy. Hence it is divided into various rounds to fill in the vacant seats. Even after three to four rounds if the seats remain vacant, in that case, the institute authorities would organise for an open counselling round.

Most probably, the JIPMER 2022 counselling process will be conducted through offline mode.

Hence the candidates will have to go through a few steps - biometric fingerprint and document verification. Besides, it is mandatory to carry along all the original documents and photocopies as well for verification purposes.

Seats will be allotted as you provided the choice in the application form. But it also depends on the rank, category, and availability of the number of seats.

Upon the allotment of seats, candidates will have to report to the respective JIPMER campus (i.e. Puducherry and Karaikanal) to confirm their admission.

As a candidate, you must know the JIPMER cut-off. Based on this, you will be granted admission to the MBBS/ BDS programme. Also, you must remember another important fact - everyone who appeared in the medical entrance test and cleared it, will not be allowed to participate in the counselling procedure unless there is an open round of counselling.
